Universities recognized by Chinese Education Ministry

Published by China Ministry of Education, there is a list of higher education institutions recognized by China covering schools from 33 countries. It is also considered guidance for Chinese students choosing study abroad.

Pursuant to the United State Constitution, each state is responsible for registration and authorization of institutions of higher education. But the recognitions of society on these institutions depend on accreditation of accrediting agencies approved by government.

There are two types of institution of higher education in America: public and private, and commonly consists of two years or four years of study. Two year of study always refers to technical specialty schools and community colleges. Statistics shows there are over 3600 institutions of higher education in America.

The accreditation of institutions of higher education is generally conducted by professional accrediting bodies. There are six regional accreditors and nearly one hundred professional accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The federal government administrate and regulate institutions indirectly through accrediting agencies. The Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) is the professional body to coordinate and oversee accrediting agencies. Through accreditation of regional accreditors or other professional accrediting agencies, institutions can make credit transfer between each other. Degrees or diplomas can be recognized widely by the society.
